Alum and rising superstar Daniil Trifonov (AC ’13, AD ’15, Babayan) was nominated for Best Classical Instrumental Solo for his album Rachmaninov Variations with the Philadelphia Orchestra and alum and four-time Grammy winner Thomas C. Moore (BM ‘86, MM ’88, Mack) received a nod as the producer of Monteverdi: Il Ritorno D'Ulisse In Patria which is up for Best Opera Recording.

Moore’s production skills at Telarc International have already earned him four Grammy Awards. He now co-owns Five/Four Productions which was recognized for its work on the nominated recording. Moore is principal oboist with the Cleveland Pops and has performed with the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, the Ohio Ballet Orchestra, the Cleveland Opera Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic as well as the Akron and Canton Orchestras.

Since its release, Trifonov’s Rachmaninov Variations has been making international headlines. The Guardian said that the album is “a joyous, exceptional collection,” also commenting that Trifonov is an “outstanding pianist who plays Rachmaninov because he is fascinated by the music and can bring genuine imagination and musical wit to it.”

The winners will be announced in February. Congratulations!
