Alum's performance at Dallas City Performance Hall is “wow”

Cleveland Institute of Music alum Jinjoo Cho (PS'15, Laredo) performed at Dallas City Performance Hall as part of Chamber Music International with pianist Hyun Soo Kim. The Dallas Morning News said the performance “had it all: brilliant virtuosity, a visceral feeling for rhythm and, when called for, natural lyricism.”

The reviewer went on to praise the duo for their “passion, eloquence, brilliance, delicate detail: It was all there, from both players.”

The program featured Dvorák’s Four Romantic Pieces, John Corigliano’s 1963 Violin Concerto, Richard Strauss’ Violin Sonata and Franz Waxman’s Carmen Fantasy, of which the reviewer wrote, “Cho dispatched dizzying runs and skittering double-stops with eye-popping assurance, elsewhere dispensing apt earthiness and romantic dreaminess. An eminently deserved standing ovation was rewarded with a Kreisler Schön Rosmarin fairly oozing charm. Wow.”

Cho holds a bachelor’s degree (2011) and a master’s degree (2013) in music performance from CIM. But she has been a member of the CIM family since coming to the United States in 2002, at which time she earned a spot in CIM’s prestigious Young Artist Program. She recently earned her Professional Studies Diploma at CIM as a student of Jaime Laredo.
