Cleveland Orchestra Voted "World's Favorite"
CIM applauds The Cleveland Orchestra — more than half of which are CIM faculty, alumni or both — on being named the World’s Favorite Orchestra by the London-based website Bachtrack.com.
The Cleveland Orchestra didn’t just win, it won by a landslide, scoring 20.3% of the vote, with second place and third place winners, Ireland’s RTE Concert Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic, earning just 12.4% and 8.5% respectively.
According to Bachtrack, 97 countries participated in the online survey, voting on 417 different orchestras.
“CIM congratulates The Cleveland Orchestra on this recognition and is proud of our long-standing relationship with its members,” said Conservatory Dean Adrian Daly. “Our students have the priceless benefit of learning from these incredible musicians every day, in teaching, learning and performing opportunities”
In a written statement, Ross Binnie, Chief Marketing Officer of The Cleveland Orchestra, commented: “We want to thank our fans for voting for The Cleveland Orchestra. We have 60,000 social media followers whom we invited to vote, and they clearly were engaged. We are proud to be one of the world’s finest orchestras, thanks to the support of all the communities we serve.”
