Play Me, I’m Yours Comes to Cleveland and CIM

Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland International Piano Competition have teamed up to present a local installation of the Play Me, I’m Yours public art project and CIM is one of 11 neighborhood institutions participating in this music-meets-art experiment.

Play Me, I’m Yours Cleveland officially launches on Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Toby Plaza (Euclid Ave & Mayfield Rd next to MOCA Cleveland in Uptown).

Dilapidated pianos were cleaned, tuned and creatively decorated by University Circle’s member institutions as a last musical hurrah before being permanently retired.

The pianos, tagged with the words "Play Me, I’m Yours," will be located in public spaces throughout Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood. Anyone passing by the pianos--which will be on display between Friday, July 19, and Sunday, August 12--is invited to stop, play and enjoy them.

The goal of the art project is to encourage people to connect, communicate and express themselves through the shared musical experience.

CIM’s piano decoration, designed and executed by CIM Graphic Designer Casey Ocasio and Piano Technician William Schoeffler, speaks to our organization mission: music education. If you want to learn more, you’ll have to stop by to see—and play—it for yourself!
