Introduction
Richard Weiss is first assistant principal cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra. He was appointed to TCO during his senior year at the Eastman School of Music. He is also a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Piano Trio.
In the summer he teaches at the Kent/Blossom Music Festival, Cleveland Institute of Music International Academy and Sphinx Performance Academy. Weiss coaches the cello sections of the CIM Orchestra and the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. For the CIM Preparatory and Continuing Education department, he teaches in the Young Artist Program (YAP), which requires a video audition. Weiss serves as president of the Cleveland Cello Society.
