- Friedrich Hölderlin
In 1871, Johannes Brahms completed Schicksalslied, a 16-minute choral/orchestral piece that set Friedrich Hölderlins poem Hyperions Schicksalslied, from his novel Hyperion. The poem contrasts the lives of the gods with the fate and destiny of men. The Case/U. Circle Symphony Orchestra and Case Concert Choir present this work, in addition to Verdi’s Overture to La Forza Del Destino, the Lizst Les Preludes, and three Brahms partsongs.
