Immediately following commencement in May, President Paul Hogle departed Cleveland for Shenyang, China, where he joined Head of Collaborative Piano Anita Pontremoli at Shenyang Conservatory’s 80th Anniversary Gala Celebration. Representatives from conservatories and music schools around the world gathered for the ceremonies, which included establishing and signing the “Belt and Road” International Music Education Alliance that links major music institutions in China to those around the globe and supports the development of music culture as well as the cooperation and openness of international higher music education.

Huibin Ji, President of Shenyang Conservatory, recognized the school’s close relationship with CIM with an expansive private dinner for the Cleveland contingent—a display of his esteem and respect for the Institute.

In addition to eloquently representing CIM to the assembled guests, Pontremoli taught master classes for students in Shenyang and at Beijing Central Conservatory.

President Hogle also enjoyed meeting CIM alumni Flora Lu (MM ’15), who studied with Pontremoli, and her husband I-Sheng Huang (PS ’15, Billions).
