Excellence in Teaching Award

The Preparatory Department is establishing an Excellence in Teaching Award to be presented at the Annual Preparatory Graduation on May 19, 2013. We are now accepting nominations for this year's recipient. Please submit all nominations in writing to Sandra Shapiro, Dean of Preparatory and Continuing Education. Since 1920, CIM has provided excellent teaching, emphasized the development of individual potential, and instilled lifelong appreciation for, and support of, the musical arts. CIM strives to be an outlet for creative musical endeavors no matter the age of the student; our doors are open to both the amateur and professional musicians alike. We believe that the skills learned during the course of music study, whatever the age, enhance the quality of life and nurture the human spirit.

In addition to teaching, the CIM community provides a wealth of musical and educational resources to augment music lessons. Inspiration can be drawn from orchestral and chamber concerts, staged operas, and faculty recitals of the highest caliber.

Another great asset to those registered in the Preparatory and Continuing Education Division of Cleveland Institute of Music is access to Robinson Music Library. The Robinson Music Library has an outstanding collection of books, CDs, and videos for children in the Preparatory Collection. The library also offers the latest in technology and an extensive collection of videos, CDs, LPs and reference materials for young people and adults. CIM also houses a Music Store on site which allows students to purchase music and browse the wide-ranging selection of books and records.
