Orianna Webb

Composition. B.A., University of Chicago; M.M., Cleveland Institute of Music; doctoral studies at Yale School of Music. Teachers include Joseph Schwantner, Martin Bresnick, Margaret Brouwer, John Eaton, Roger Zahab. Additional studies at La Schola Cantorum in Paris with Samuel Adler and Philip Lasser. Premieres during the past season include Sustenance Variations for sax, guitar, piano, and percussion, commissioned by Guitars International, The Time Being for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, commissioned by SCI and ASCAP, and a Piano Trio, commissioned by the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program. Performances of Ms. Webb's works by the Minnesota Orchestra, Yale Philharmonia, Bowling Green Philharmonia, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO), Flexible Music, Prism Players, University of Iowa Center for New Music, Vox Novus, the Mostly Modern Chamber Music Society, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (CT), Newburyport Chamber Music Festival(MA), 2003 International Trombone Festival (Helsinki, Finland), Rock Hotel Pianofest Piano Bowl (Society Hall, NY), Cleveland Museum of Art's AKI Festival of New Music, Ohio & Erie Canal Opera Project, and recitals across the country. Prizes from ASCAP, American Music Center, SCI, International Alliance for Women in Music, International Trombone Association, and the Darius Milhaud Society. Taught music theory and analysis at Yale College, composition in the Cleveland Institute of Music Conservatory Division, and composition and theory in the CIM Preparatory Division. Director and faculty member of the Young Composers Program at CIM, a week-long summer program for composers ages 14-19. Residency at the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France, Fall 2004. Appointed to CIM faculty, 2003.
