Linda White leads an active musical life as both a performer and a teacher. She is a founding member of the BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, and has also performed with The Cleveland Pops, The Cleveland Opera Orchestra, The Akron Symphony, The Canton Symphony, Erie Philharmonic and The New World Symphony. An avid chamber musician and champion of contemporary music, she regularly works with the composers of the Cleveland Composers Guild and performs their pieces at venues throughout the Great Lakes region. Though classically trained, Ms. White enjoys improvising and nurtures her love of jazz through collaboration with pianist-composer (and fellow faculty member) Marshall Griffith. Together, she and Mr. Griffith have debuted many of his new works as well as presented programs featuring the great jazz standards. Her ensemble with guitarist Robert Gruca provides a fresh take on the classical music concert experience by interjecting short improvised jams in between the major works on the program. An engaging teacher, Ms. White has students of all ages and abilities. She teaches at The Music Settlement, CIM’s Preparatory division and Laurel Academy.
Ms. White received a Master of Music degree from CIM as a student of Jeffrey Khaner and a Bachelor of the Arts from the University of Wyoming, where she studied with Dr. Katherine Kemler.
She was appointed to the faculty in 1993.
