CIM Returns to Severance Hall with Free Concert Series
The Cleveland Institute of Music, while busy preparing for the 2014-15 academic year and concert season, is pleased to announce the news that our musicians will again be returning for a special series of concerts at Severance Hall, presented at no charge to the attending public.
Alumnus premiered work and made conducting debut at festival
Cellist Joshua Roman (BM’04/MM’05), 31, is another CIM graduate taking an active role in building the next repertoire – as demonstrated by the world premiere of his work we do it to one another at a Music Academy of the West concert on August 2, 2014.
Grammy Winner, Cleveland Pops Oboist, CIM Alumnus
Today CIM alumnus Thomas Moore is principal oboist for the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, though it’s just one in a list of impressive positions on his resume, which also includes four Grammy Award wins. Not bad considering he chose the instrument almost by default, since his sisters had chosen the flute and clarinet and his parents had “banned” any brass from the house.
Hoopes’ Dreams, CIM alumnus interview in August issue of Strings
Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory division alumnus Chad Hoopes has been making a name for himself for close to a decade–quite an accomplishment for a 19-year-old. Recently, he released his first studio recording of concertos by Mendelssohn and John Adams to rave reviews, and now he’s the cover story of Strings magazine.
Make a Lunch Date with the CIM Alumni Association
Beginning on July 1 and continuing each Tuesday in July, alumni of the Cleveland Institute of Music will perform a lunchtime recital in CIM’s charming (and air conditioned) Mixon Hall.

The morning of Saturday, May 17, 2014, was a bit overcast with cool rain lightly dropping from time-to-time. But, inside the Cleveland Institute of Music, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and bright as 140 excited students enjoyed the final notes in an early movement in this great work called life.
