CIM’s leadership received a fresh injection of business expertise this week with the appointment of Stephen Ban to its Board of Trustees.

Ban, a senior advisor to the Corporate Coalition of Chicago and adjunct professor of finance and sustainability at Loyola University Chicago, brings to the table decades of experience in investment management, brand management and non-profit service.

He was named to CIM’s board on Wednesday and follows in the footsteps of his mother, the late Gay Cull Addicott, who served as a CIM Trustee for many years.

“CIM has been a fixture in my family, and it’s a privilege now to help it pursue and achieve its mission,” said Ban.

“I’m looking forward to working with the administration and faculty to ensure that CIM remains among the finest conservatories in the world and a vital part of one of the nation’s liveliest cultural centers.”

Since 2020, Ban has been a senior advisor to the Corporate Coalition of Chicago, a group of Chicago companies working together in innovative ways to address longstanding racial and economic inequities. He began teaching at Loyola in 2023 and also serves there on the advisory board of the Baumhart Center for Social Enterprise & Responsibility.

Ban’s long prior experience includes roles in brand management at the Quaker Oats Company, marketing and media at Ogilvy & Mather, and marketing and investment leadership at Heller Financial, Aon Corporation, T. Rowe Price, Nuveen and Hightower Advisors.

Ban holds a degree in economics from Princeton University and graduated from Loyola’s Business Sustainability and Impact Program. He also serves on the boards of two Princeton-based performing arts organizations and is the immediate past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the USA Triathlon Foundation.

"CIM couldn’t ask for a more broadly experienced or more highly principled advocate than Stephen Ban,” said CIM President & CEO Paul Hogle

“In addition to a remarkably successful businessman, he is a model corporate citizen determined to make the world a better place. We’re honored to count him among our esteemed Board of Trustees with ties to Cleveland and look forward to benefiting from his wisdom and passion.”
