CIM Returns to Severance Hall with Free Concert Series

CIM Returns to Severance Hall with Free Concert Series

The Cleveland Institute of Music, while busy preparing for the 2014-15 academic year and concert season, is pleased to announce the news that our musicians will again be returning for a special series of concerts at Severance Hall, presented at no charge to the attending public.

It is difficult to place a value on the experience that CIM students gain from performing at Severance Hall--home of The Cleveland Orchestra and the stage upon which many of their teachers and mentors regularly perform. Nor can one easily measure the benefit of these professional-level concerts, featuring works by the great masters as well as more contemporary composers, to the Northeast Ohio community. In recent years, CIM assigned a nominal charge on tickets to help mitigate some of the expenses associated with these concerts while striving to keep tickets family and budget-friendly.

For the 2014-15 season, in keeping with the mission and commitment of the school to engage and enrich the community while cultivating new audiences for classical music, CIM will again return to a practice of offering free tickets to the four regular CIM@Severance performances.

"Providing access to treasured classical music performed by some of the most talented up-and-coming musicians from around the world is one of the ways CIM engages and supports the rich arts and cultural community of Cleveland,” said Karin Stone, vice president of institutional advancement for CIM. “Generous support from our donors combined with the talent of our students on stage and a lot of hard working people behind the scenes are critical to making these performances, and our concert season, successful and enjoyable for audiences and artists alike.”

2014-15 CIM at Severance Concert Series begins October 1, 2014

These concerts are made possible, in part, thanks to CIM donors including individuals, corporations, foundations and the residents of Cuyahoga County through a generous grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

While free, tickets are required for seating purposes and can be obtained by calling the Severance Hall Box Office at 216.231.1111 or by visiting clevelandorchestra.com.

If you've enjoyed or plan to attend a free CIM concert and would like to play a role in supporting the mission and musicians of CIM, you can make a secure, online contribution to the CIM Annual Fund.
